yourealwaysonthetipofmytongue reminded me to post about this. I sometimes forget that this blog can be a platform for more than just speaking about these issues, but for actual real change.
The Lakota, my people, are trying desperately to raise the funds to buy back the most sacred of places in The Black Hills, Pe’ Sla, before a highway is laid through it. This is incredibly important; the land is our identity, and when it’s gone, we will be too. Last Real Indians is trying very, very hard to raise the money necessary to buy Pe’ Sla back for the Lakota people and insure its conservation for generations to come.
And we only have 25 hours left to raise about $644,000. Every donation helps. You can click here to donate to the fund.
I’ve seen Tumblr come together to build schools in Africa, to save animals and people in need, to help after natural disasters. And I just really, really hope you’ll come together to spread the word and help this time too because this is the cause that’s closest to my heart.
